“The collection of elements - soil, mineral, water, sunlight expressed via the fruit of a specific vineyard, as a wine all it’s own. [ter-wahr]”

The Story

Susan and Craig Handly met in 1988 working as wine label designers in St. Helena. They soon had a studio of their own designing labels for a number of new clients, Karl Lawrence, Robert Craig, Elyse and Elizabeth Spencer to name only a few. The new Kendall-Jackson winery along with the collection of Beringer brands, Stag’s Leap, Etude, St. Clement, Meridian provided a wide variety of projects.

As the number of new wineries in Napa diminished they started Langhorne Press a boutique stationery company with reps and accounts across the nation, many in Manhattan. Langhorne Press won the Best Booth Award at the New York Stationery Show in 1996. Within three years the internet and email surfaced impacting the future of stationery and helped steer them back into the wine business.

As package designers and with a network of winemaking friends the step was a logical one. A number of private label projects got things going while two brands emerged with the 2000 vintage, Terroir Napa Valley and Sentall.
